I didn't really care for this story. Perhaps it was Traci and her relationship with her mother. Perhaps it was Traci's hatred of anything girly and her constant desire to be treated just like a guy.
I did like Travis and his determination to do what was right, and his refusal to let Traci act in certain ways. The part about the husband being the head of the home was good.
There was some excitement and danger, and someone killing himself, but it wasn't descriptive.

There was some excitement and danger, and someone killing himself, but it wasn't descriptive.

There was too much description of the kisses for my taste, and I probably won't be reading this story again.

Black Belt, White Dress is a beautiful Christian novella. I must admit the first couple of chapters were a bit slow for me, but after that, the story definitely hooked me in. Also, by reading the tagline (All Traci wants is to marry Travis while skydiving over the Grand Canyon. So how did she end up planning the wedding of the year complete with ribbons and bows?) I honestly thought the whole story was going to be one fight after another, or that there was going to be some kind of manipulation f Black Belt, White Dress is a beautiful Christian novella. I honestly thought the whole story was going to be one fight after another, or that there was going to be some kind of manipulation from the mother, but I'm glad to say it didn't happen that way.

I loved getting to know Deputy Traci Winston and her love for martial arts (Taekwondo), discipline, and nothing frilly/girly. Master Travis Seaver definitely knew her, and his love for her showed throughout the story (be it romantic love or tough love). I also loved how passionate he was about teaching Taekwondo, and I definitely enjoyed getting to know a bit more about this world through his eyes. Of course, with both of them being black belts, it was always great seeing them in action. As an engaged couple, I liked how the author showed them having issues to still work through, be them about marriage and their views regarding it, about wedding planning, or even just still getting to know each other. It definitely made for some interesting conversations, and I loved how it deepened their relationship with each other and with the Lord.

Overall, a beautiful, Christian romance that mixes some threads of action and mystery in a seamless way. Perfect for fans of the author, the series (though it definitely stands on its own), or the Christian Fiction genre. Can't wait to read more by this author. :) ~ 4.5 stars

PS: this is a 10-chapter novella, so keep that in mind when reading it. The story finished at about the 77% mark in my e-reader, and the rest is followed with book club questions, recipes, a preview of the following book in the series, and a feature of some of the author's backlist books.

This book deals with the topics of suicide (one is described kinda on-screen, and the others are mentioned in passing as one), drugs, and receiving news about a fatal illness/prognosis for a secondary character.

Traci was a strong, independent woman with a determination to live her life on her own terms. Travis fell in love with Traci when they met during one of his classes. I liked how two seemingly opposites came together. Travis seemed to know and understand Traci's feelings and what she needed more than she did at times. He didn't try to manipulate her to do things as he saw fit, but he allowed her to live life on her own terms, even if he had to allow her to walk away at one point in their relation Traci was a strong, independent woman with a determination to live her life on her own terms. Travis fell in love with Traci when they met during one of his classes. I liked how two seemingly opposites came together. Travis seemed to know and understand Traci's feelings and what she needed more than she did at times. He didn't try to manipulate her to do things as he saw fit, but he allowed her to live life on her own terms, even if he had to allow her to walk away at one point in their relationship. Traci seemed to be filled with lots of anger beginning when her parents never married and later split. Even though her mother raised her, they had a difficult relationship. But as Mom deals with a life-shattering medical diagnosis, can their relationship heal? I liked how Traci started to consider looking at things from the other's point of view and discovers true love. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

I love reading Hallee Bridgeman's books. They are full of action, adventure, romance, and biblical themes! This book has a very strong heroine, Traci. She's a deputy, a black belt, and an incredibly strong and determined woman. During this book, you see Traci grow in her spiritual relationship with God and in her relationship with her mother. There's an incredible amount of growth for Traci's character and for Travis's. When you read Bridgeman's books, you really feel compelled to be a better pe I love reading Hallee Bridgeman's books. They are full of action, adventure, romance, and biblical themes! This book has a very strong heroine, Traci. She's a deputy, a black belt, and an incredibly strong and determined woman. During this book, you see Traci grow in her spiritual relationship with God and in her relationship with her mother. There's an incredible amount of growth for Traci's character and for Travis's. When you read Bridgeman's books, you really feel compelled to be a better person. As you see the characters grow in their faith and become better people, it inspires you to do the same.

I love the conservative Christian themes in this book, and I love the action scene near the end. It is an adrenaline rush! I'd love to describe it for you, but that would be a spoiler.

As always, I read Bridgeman's book in less than a day. I just couldn't put it down.

Travis had a happy childhood until his father was killed in a car accident. He doesn't understand why Traci has such an aversion to the white dress and big party idea. Until she explains it all to him. Can he become the head of their little family? Will Traci even be open to the idea?

He understood her, a proposal with a ring that she could wear at work, a workout or spar. She loved him, a.look and she melted. Her mother, still thought of her as a girly girl with ruffles and bows, and a wedding,
She was a sheriff, a tomboy, with a black belt.
Humor and mayhem, Travis was great, trying to keep things in balance.

I found myself not being able to put this book down because I couldn't wait to see how it ended. I finished it in one day!

I was impressed with the unique storyline. The heroine, Traci, was so well written that I could actually feel her armor. My initial reaction to her interactions with her mother paralleled those of Travis. His honest reflections were wonderful and I really enjoyed seeing their love unfold. It was interesting to learn why she had built walls around her life and even more interesting to see how they came crumbling down when faced with tragedy. Great suspense too!

Hallee Bridgeman has written another great book. Black Belt White Dress has excitement throughout. She wants a skydiving wedding and her Mother wants a traditional wedding for her. Who wins out on this life changing and memorable day???
Lots of action and clean romance that keeps you reading to the end and makes you want more!

Cute story. Sweet characters.
I can totally relate to Traci.
I am not a girly girl. I learned how to shoot a rifle at 6 years old and how to play poker about the same time. I had long hair but was totally more comfortable in jeans. I hated being dressed up in frilly things.
I was a police officer and I used to take martial arts.

Hallee Bridgeman weave an intriguing story! What to do when you are not ñ girly girl, and you have an over-the-top girly weddingplanner mom? You have the boyfriend of your dreams and then he propose!! But . . . All that girly stuff wedding, that is so not your style?! Mixed in with your dangerous police work. This mix made for an awesome read!! This is deffinitely a not to be missed book!!

This is a refreshing change to the normal romance books. A daughter who doesn't want a traditional wedding changes her mind when her mother suddenly becomes ill & may not have long to live. I enjoyed this romance. It was different to enter so far into their already existing relationship. I enjoyed the biblical lessons and the interesting twists and turns. It kept my attention.
